Narrative

In 1980s Hollywood, adult film star and aspiring actress Maxine Minks finally gets her big break. But when a mysterious killer pursues Hollywood stars, a trail of blood threatens to reveal her sinister past. Hollywood star Maxine puts out a cigarette, this is Theda Bara, the actress Pearl drew inspiration to name her alligator in « Pearl » (2022).

After waiting impatiently for « Maxxxine » for several months, the film became a disappointment for me

And why Maxine is so resistant to cooperation with the police to find out who committed the murders is not explained. There are some great performances from everyone involved (especially Mia Goth and Kevin Bacon, as usual), and some dark humor about the dark side of maintaining a reputation in Hollywood that really stands out. But the plot felt like it was quickly written in about two days, without thinking about using logic or faithfulness to the previous two films of the trilogy.
